I am getting 6200 range 3dmark06 on my hd 3870. Seems kind of low because I had a x1900xtx and it was benching at 4500 range. I am using catalyst 7.10. System specs in sig.

Is my system bottlenecking my new GPU? Or is it something else? Or am I expecting too much.

You should be at least hitting 11K. Something is seriously wrong there.

No, he shouldn't. His CPU score is keeping that 3dMark 06 score down.

If he puts that card in a Core 2 or Quad Core system, he'll be over 10,000 easy.

And it's not bottlenecking your games, dude. Just that bullshit benchmark.

3dMark 06 is just such a bogus benchmark when it comes to real world gaming.

Can anyone with a similar system comment on this?

I had the same processor a year ago. Overclocked to the hilt. Before the 8800's came out, I had a 7900 GTO SLi set-up and only had 6000 3dMark 06.

Upgraded to a Core 2 Duo, with the same video cards and my 3dMark 06 score shot up to 8600.

And my games didn't improve much. SLi gave me the same performance boost on both platforms.

That benchmark is pure evil. It's designed to get you to upgrade.

It's designed to make you feel, the way you are feeling about your rig right now.

Stop being so conscious about it, load up your favorite game and have some fun.

Half these knuckle-heads have no idea what they're talking about....

Thanks. Yea shouldnt worry about those benchmarks i guess. I can tell by playing games how much better it is than my old vid card.

dude, something is wrong with your video card man or something else in your system is fubarred, you should not be getting a score of 6200.

Should be a little higher my Opty 170 and 8800GTS get ~7300 point range so you should be in there somewhere. I've seen my score as low as 6800 and as high as 7600. 3dmark is crap try some games and see what happens

I got it now! A score of 9526 that sounds about right to me. What I did was take out the video card and installed it in the PCI-e slot 1 instead of 2 and i reinstalled my drivers. I duno what i actually fixed but it worked. THanks for the help guys.

Glad to hear its fixed. :D

I went hunting for an online review/info about your motherboard and I came across this.

Did you change the jumper settings to route more lanes to the secondary pci-e x16 slot? If not, that might've been the case of the problem.

you probably had your second slot set as the secondary in your bios, which would be the default, hence slower running.
