Howdy,
I just threw my new rig together... all accept the vid card. I bought an Radeon 9800 SE and when I throw it in my comp I just get a garbled signal. I don't really know how to explain it.... My system doesn't lock or reset or anything, but I can' really see shit. Lots of funny colored lines and the like. I was wondering if it is just a driver problem or if my card may be fried? Also... can I install the new Catalyst drivers w/o having the ATI card in my comp? I've got an hold 3D Prophet II in there for the moment cause it lets me see wtf is going on. Any ideas?
Oh yeah, it's on a ABIT IC7-G w/ a P4 2.8c and 1GB PC3200 DDR if that is important....
 
Does it render okay during boot and then crap out before the Window's login? I mean, can you see the BIOS and all that? Can you boot into safe mode with the card installed and see things?

It doesn't crap out at all... Everything runs fine and I can boot and load windows and such, and everything works fine... other than the fact that I can't make out what is on my screen for the most part. It is like that from the moment that I power up. I CAN get into my BIOS but I can't make anything out in order to change anything. I can flounder my way around windows much easier than the BIOS menu. Any answers on wether or not I could install what should be the proper drivers before actually throwing the card in the system? I feel like I may be b0nz0rd.... :mad:
