i used to hardly ever get noise, but im getting a lot of noise now even with a lot of light; the only time i dont get noise is when the subject is really close and there is a lot of light. its a sony s50 and its about 5 years old

It is entirely possible that the CCD is starting to get some bad sectors. They do eventually wear out as, does anythingelse electronic. Is the noise in one general area or, all over? Either way it is a pain to have to get rid of noise in post processing.
