Hi all,

I am thinking of upgrading my sound card that is the
Audigy 2 value to the Auzentech X-fi prelude 7.1 or the
Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Sound Card

Is it worth it? Do I get better sound, I only play games.

You would get better positional audio if nothing else. The "else" is determined by the quality of the speakers you're running (or headphones)

I have decided to get the Auzentech X-fi prelude 7.1 sound card but
is my Logitech 680 speakers be sufficent for it?

no... you would need to biuld a system to us the prelude to it glory, though this can be done later when you have the money to upgrade the rest of your system

Is there a big difference between these two because I am leaning back to the xtremegamer because of price?
It's only going to be used for gaming.

Auzentech X-fi prelude 7.1 sound card AU $325.00 + $20 postage

Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Sound Card AU $169.00 + $10postage

I decided between those exact two cards and ended up choosing the XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro. It all came down to bang for the buck. The Prelude is better, but for just $80 (after $50 rebate) I got the XGFP which still is an excellent card and does a great job for games and music. If price is no object, get the Prelude. Otherwise, save some $$ for better speakers and grab the XGFP.

Yes I will be keeping my Logitech 680 speakers which cost me
then AU$500

I can get this card Auzentech X-fi prelude 7.1 sound card for $199.99 from the US but I was told I would have NO warranty at all because I'm from Australia.

If I get it here I have to pay $348 with postage ( and have warranty)

Which way should I go?

I don't think ANY sound card is worth $348! Get the X-Fi and save your money for better speakers. The X-Fi is a damn good card, especially for games.

What's wrong with my speakers? I think they are very good speakers for there age?

One simple question can you use 5.1 speakers on the new
Auzentech X-fi prelude 7.1 sound card
thanks

Well the thing is soundcards are relatively simple to make (compared to lets say video cards) and are rather cheap these days, they only have high end sound cards so audiophiles can tare them apart looking for the absolut best at no budget.

Look at this way look how much sound cards changed in the last 3~4 years and look how much video cards have changed.

TBH unless you spending thousands on speakers a nice $100~150 USD soundcard should be sufficient.

This is a matter of opinion like anything else, but thats mine.
