I have the just enough cash to udated my video(well i was thinking about it). as of right now i have a BFG 6800ultra and i was looking to get a 7900GTX or the ATI 1900XT. But i am asking if i was should wait on it or go for it.

night and day in the preformance area..although you have a decent card..the 7900 series cards are much better...and if it was my $(and ill be spending some of it soon) id get the 7900gt...not the gtx

I feel you on the GT over the GTX but would the 512 be worth it over the 256 for video ram?

oh yeah, but not worth the price difference if you have 2GB of RAM.

With technology, the waiting game is the best game there is. The longer you wait to buy, the better the price and technology. Its always a matter of measuring needs and wants versus is what I have good enough.

Its a tough thing to do because we all want the latest and greatest. I myself have been REALLY thinking about quad SLI, but the more I look into, well.... First off, new monitor, , which I paln on getting, but I really don't want anything over 24" because I use dual monitors, and really, a 30" and 21" widescreen is just more than I need. Then add in the cost for the cards and 1KW power supply, and that's at least $2500, plus I doubt the GPU's will fit in my case, and so it goes on.

I think that my dual 7800 512 GTX will do me fine for the rest of the year, and I can put that $2500 into quad G80's for my Vista system when I build it.

So I'm settling now, but to be honest, I can play all the games out there are max detail and 4aa/16af at max resolution of my monitor and eveything is smooth now. I guess when I see a slow/sluggish game come along I'll be more willing to upgrade, but I don't even know that what will happen before the end of the year, so heck, just wait.

Hopefully I won't be dead!

I play the wiaiting game on mid-priced stuff. I don';t give two shits about whats the latest and greatest, i care more about the more budget things.

Look at how cheap the 7800's have gotten, for instance..
