There is practically no risk when overclocking is done correctly, so yes, I would say that the increase in performance is worth it.

Unless you're upping the voltage to obscene amounts, there is zero risk with overclocking. If the CPU can't handle it, it simply doesn't boot. There's no damage caused by such a thing.
