Is it worth it?

Would a P4 2g with 256m ram running Fedora 7 be worth running? Power is not an issue for me, so "wasting" electricity is not an excuse that I would consider. I've got a couple of these machines doing essentially nothing right now and I could get them running headless pretty easily, but if they won't turn in around 100~200ppd I don't really see the point...

I've got a P4 1.8 w/ 256 ram that runs about 100-170 PPD, depending on the WU. It's been fairly reliable at hitting those speeds consistently though.

Better still.
Chuck a X1950 in it and GPU fold.
Then you'll get ~700 PpD.
It the best use for the GPU client.
Folding on something that wont run the SMP one.

I have an X1950pro 256m AGP card in my P4 3g boxen and I can't get the damn thing to fold, I've tried several times and it simply refuses to work.... I suppose that I may be doing something wrong, but if I am, I have no idea what it is.

Has anyone here successfully used one of these cards? If so, any help would be greatly appreciated.... the only reason I bought the thing was to fold on it... I'm not a gamer and I really hate to think that the only thing it's doing is running Aero

Its been a few months since I've run the GPU console client so I'm doing this from memory ......

Download and install .net framework v1.1. v1.1 is not included in v2.0 so install it anyway to be safe.
Download and install the drivers you want it to run under. Either the lastest ones or v6.11.
Download and install AtiTools so you can get your card running at 3D speeds.
Start-> Run-> msconfig-> Services, turn off the ATI services that start at boot. Reboot.
Use AtiTools to up the voltages and clock/memory speeds to the 3D speeds. Keep an eye on temps while checking for artifacts, if running to hot then up the fan speeds. You may want to up the fan speeds a bit before you start altering the voltages just to be on the safe side.
Download and install the v6 client. Start it with the -GPU flag.
If I've got it right it should now run ok ........
