If you couldn't create partitions, it would be impossible to use.
 
Oh yeah. SATA drives are still hard drives and can do everything hard drives can do, including create partitions. You won't even be able to use the hard drive until you partition and format it.
 
Thanks. I was simply curious about it, I'm going to be purchasing SATA HDD's soon, and simply didn't know if they operated in the same fasihon, that's all. Thank ya.
 
Yea its still a hard drive, the only differance is how it's connected to your mobo.

basically correct if not technically correct
its still ATA (IDE) but it also piggybacks in some additional features
(command effciencies)
