Is it possible to use a smaller PSU ?

I'm looking to replace the power brick psu from my laptop with a small one which is easier to carry around.

only thing is that it has a lower ampere rating than the original one.
I know that there is no problem in using a psu with a higher ampere rating.
But will the lower rating one only charge slower or will it overload ?

any ideas?

It will likely overload...not a good idea to use a smaller rated ac adapter.
