Is it possible to run both a 56k modem and a Cable modem

I was wondering if it was possible to use regular broadband and to connect to an ISP using like a 56k modem, then being able to use the connection from the modem on certian applications instead of using the broadband connection. Any info would be appreciated, Thanks

You could hook up both. But, traffic will only flow over one of the interfaces/networks at a time. You will not be able to load balance the connecting. It's generally useless to do this unless you are trying to attain fault tollerance.

You could probably set up a router(old freebsd box or something) that would send everything over link A by default. Then add rules that will send certain packets over link B instead. That's getting into a fairly complicated configuration, and seems like more work than it's worth. I fail to see the reasoning behind using both links, since the 56K modem's bandwith is so insignificant compared to the broadband connection.
