Hey, all. This is my first post; apologies if I've missed the answer to my question in another post somewhere.
Question: Is it possible that, having overclocked my CPU at one point for three months, and then reset it to stock speeds, it could have permanently higher idle/load temps?
I know that seems like an obvious "No," but I'm at a bit of a loss to explain it. I first OC'd my Northwood 2.4 in Dec up to 2.7. At that point, my idle/load temps were 26/60ish, but never over 60. I recently bought Oblivion, and I read on tweakguides that OCs on Oblivion can sometimes be counterproductive, so I dropped it back to stock to see if it made a difference. The only difference that I could see was that my temps at STOCK were now 26/60 . . . what gives?
I checked back over some of my notes and realized that my idle/load temps are way higher than they used to be . . . more like 35/70, but not a bit of instability . . . any suggestions?
(on stock air cooler, btw).
