Is it possible for a noob modder to ...

thanks for the ideal i'm going to look in to it.

edit: no just joking first your going to have to cut the tray and back out of your case but don't cut the power supply out. now slide it in place and cut this and that to get it to fit. now drill hows in the tray and case so thay line up bolt it in and your done.

easyest way to find out is to go down a local computer shop that has both cases and see if they'd be friendly enough to let you look at the internal construction of the 2 cases... don't forget to bring your tape measure...

from just looking at it, you'll probibly have to fab up some rails for the tray to slide on... might be able to find something that'll work at a hardware store... not to mention it's not going to be a very smooth transition from the tray to the case after you hack out a gaping hole in the back...

but the better question is, do you really NEED a motherboard tray? i havn't had a case with a motherboard tray for 4 years, and even when i did have one, i still found myself just tipping it on it's side much easyer, as i didn't have to undo any of my wire routes....

but in one sentance? yes, anything is doable with a dremel..... :)

Unfortunately, the only computer stores in my area carry neither the Antec or Lian Li cases. I might be able to look at the Antec at CompUSA in Warwick RI (45 minutes from my place in CT), but the Lian Li case is another story. The reason I'm asking about putting in a mobo tray is I've found one of those Antec cases, but the backplane is damaged. I'd be getting this case for something to play around with, and thought that since the backplane needs to be replaced, I might as well add another feature to it.

Just to let you know, I use a Lian-Li PC65B with that exact motherboard tray, and after routing cables and such the tray isn't going to move very nicely. Plus having all your peripherials connected to the back of the tray will severely limit the ability to slide the motherboard in and out. If you leave slack in the cables insude and out then It'll work, but that will leave your case kinda cluttered inside...though I shouldn't be judging your motives to do this mod, but I'll warn ya having an easily moveable mobo tray will probably not look as sharp.

I'll post the dimensions of the tray for you when I get home ;)

That would be a very tuff one man. I dont think there the same height case wise, and you would need the track rails from the Li Li to bolt into the Chieftech. id have a real hard time with that one, and im not a newb to modding so ya.
