Is it my power supply?

Well, I'm confused. I have my system running at 233 FSB totally stable under Prime95 for 10 hours straight (yes I had two running, one with the -A1 command line option for 100% utilization). I can run 3DMark03 indefinitely. I have my 6800GT overclocked to 400MHz core/stock memory. However - if I try to do both at once, which I believe is truly the best way to check stability in a high-end game, my system just restarts after a couple minutes. I have the Windows XP "auto-restart at BSOD" option turned off, so it is most definitely not a software-related issue. The system just turns off completely, then comes back on. To me, this sounds like my power supply. Also, when I clock my video card at stock speeds but leave my FSB at 233, the restarts cease, and I can loop 3DMark and run Prime95 indefinitely. What do you guys think? Should I grab a 500+ watt supply and see what happens then?

thats definately a heavy hit to your psu.
run mbm and have the log turned on. so that after it crashes you can open mbm log and see how the voltages dipped.
sure sounds like its hitting the psu pretty hard and dropping.

no need to get a 500, maybe rma your 480, but also realise your not gunna hit your system with that much of a power crunch unless your doing what your doing so..
you really need to throw a mete on the psu and give it a good hit and see what the voltages do.
call around you might have a pc place iny our town that can test it for you to monitor voltages.
but it sure sounds like either the motherboard, cpu or psu cant handle that big of a hit.

what else do you have hooked to the power cord that the 6800 GT is hooked to ?
dont hook anything to the same rail as the GT regardless of what the instructions say.
keep the 6800 on its own power cable.

The 6800 is on its own cord. My PSU is a 430, not a 480, and I know Prescotts suck up a lot of power. I also know that the 6800 Ultra needs two dedicated rails for sufficient power, and I'm clocking my 6800 GT at Ultra speeds. So yeah, my guess is power. I'm pretty certain that my CPU and motherboard can handle the extra juice, as I locked my PCI bus at 33MHz and set the voltage on the CPU to 1.525, which is just under the spec'ed maximum for Prescotts. Anyhoo, you've encouraged me to order another PSU and try that out - I got an OCZ Powerstream 520, hopefully that'll get the job done. Any other thoughts or comments would be appreciated, however, if you think I'm misguided. Thanks for your response.
