i've got the A8N-32SLI and thanks to my shitty case it runs a little warm....even up to 48 C, but working on that. added in some ghetto carboard ducts for now:)

but i've had a lot of instability issues and it keeps coming back to a bad bios!! just curious if anyone else had these problems...

started getting random crashing/lockups when under load (ie. gaming) and i found problems with memtest...oh no i has bad ram! well i tried swapping sticks and still errors....flash the bios and it goes away but the crashes/lockups continue. i assume its heat as it seems to be worse when it gets warm...fastforward a bit and its starting to get ridiculous. flash the bios again and boom fixes it....WTF! 2 bad bios flashes in a row??? never lost settings or anything, i guess it just felt like being an ass.
 
It isn't the BIOS, that board as a whole is twichty. I know several people who had to RMA it several times before they got a good one. ASUS usually makes their boards have great BIOS with many options, but on occasion there is a bad version.
 
I have the same board in a backup rig sitting right next to me, and I never had any issues with the BIOS.. However, I did have some stability issues when I first built it.. It seems that the ASUS boards are VERY picky on what memory they can use.. :/ Flashing the BIOS is always a scary thing, too.. Heheh.. Been there myself..
 
yeah its always been twitchy for me too, but i find once i get it settled down its rock solid. the options in the bios are great too....just seems that i have to flash this thing more often than i'd like! ah well, at least its still going strong now.
 
It isn't the bios. Generally speaking, nvidia based chipsets run much hotter than normal regardless of what 3rd party made the board.
