Hey everyone. I turned my new PC on for the first time ever tonight, and I get NOTHING on the monitor. I get no beeps, the hard drive busy light on the front of the tower, doesnt light up! Everything else seems to be running, all fans run, video card was running. My Cousin said he thinks I crushed the core of my CPU when I put the heatsink on, what does everyone else figure? I am in friggin depression! lol, I worked so hard, I worked my butt off for months to afford it!!! DAMN IT
 
Make sure the power button is plugged in and in the correct spot. If you have another chassis, see if it's the power supply. It sounds like the problem is somewhere in the power, not in any of the individual components (except, perhaps, the motherboard).
 
My old roommate had a very similar problem. No beeps... but fans and HDD were spinning up like usual.

I ended up making him isolate the board, we tested it with just the cpu and ram and finally got beep codes. Put the AGP video card back in... and the beeps quit.. but no video.

Tried another AGP video card.. same problem occurred. Would have tried a PCI based card, but he did not have one to try, and I was in a different state. So we assumed a faulty AGP port on the mobo. Sent his faulty A7N8X-X RMA back to the Egg, and got his new one back. Everything worked great after that... including his original video card.

Make sure your internal speaker is set up correctly, and pull the video card to try and see if you get beep codes. If you still don't get anything, try completely isolating the board.

Just make sure your power and speakers headers are hooked up to the mobo, and the CPU and RAM are seated firmly. Isolate the board off the case to make sure it is not grounding out. (Use an anti-static bag on top of a phone book or something similar.) If you dont get beep codes... pull your ram and try... If you still dont get beep codes.. your board in my opinion would be toast.
 
I'd take out the motherboard and test it on a foam pad. Make sure there are no shorts.

Okay, run barebones: CPU + Mobo + vid card + ram

Does it work?

Swap out the video card, swap out the ram. If it's the first PC that you have built, it may just be something simple like an upside down floppy cable.
