Hi,
I posted a few days ago, only got 1 response. I've tried a few things since then but still have no real idea what the hell is wrong with my system.

Long story short, just moved to England, brought PC parts with me except for case/PSU. Bought those here. I was running my P4 2.4 at 3.5 for about a year before moving here, but now I've got stability issues even under 3.0 ghz. By stability issues I mean random reboots, BSODs and programs crashing.

At 3.2, I can run memtest for hours and no problems, but after about a half hour to an hour of Prime95, and it dies. Running games for too long results in them crashing or my system rebooting. 3.5 is pretty unstable, Prime95 dies after about 5-10 mins.

I bought a shitty PSU cause I'm low on cash, but I bought a new one and am still getting the same results. A few people have suggested that there's line noise for the incoming power. I tend to think that's quite unlikely to be my problem since you would think that would affect normal operation, not just overclocked operation.

The most logical solution is that there is either a heat problem or not enough voltage. The voltage checks out ok I think, I've got it set on 1.675, just like it was back home. Memory doesn't seem to be the problem, but I've got that voltage maxed at 2.8. Voltages also seem to check out ok on my Abit hardware monitor, although they do drop a bit under load. As far as heat, I don't see how that could be a problem. My temps look fine across the board, even at 3.5. I applied a new layer of AS3 and replaced the heatsink when I got here. I want to get a giant room fan and blow it into my case to see if that alleviates the problem. If it does, I know it's heat. But I don't have one right now.

So if anyone has any other ideas, please help!

that sounds like what my system was doing when i forgot to plug in the fan on the heat sink... deff try the room fan there like 10 bucks

but the most likely bet is in the move something got jossled around... now when it gets hot it misaligns something. i would take out everything, clean everything, and put everything back in, and make sure its snug
 
Sounds more like a psu issue to me.

What psu did you settle on?

Similar problems have been reported here when local power lines into general supply has been dodgy.

shadow, I brought my computer over in pieces, so I had to re-assemble everything anyways. The CPU and northbridge fan are both snug and the temps being reported back to me look good.

As far as the PSU goes, I settled on the crappier one cause it came with my case. It's a totally generic "Eagle-X" 400W. The one I had tried earlier that was a slight upgrade was an "Eye-T" 450W. Those wattage ratings are totally useless, I know. I wanted to go with a better PSU, but the local store I'm going to doesn't really sell any name brands. Their best one is by "JSP", which I've never heard of.

But it's true that although this sounds like a heat problem, logically it's probably a PSU or Power line issue, cause those are the only two things that have changed. But again, if it's a line noise issue, wouldn't it be apparent at all speeds, not just when overclocked? And if it's a PSU issue, isn't it strange that I got the EXACT same results with 2 different PSUs. This problem is making me scratch me head (and kick some walls).

Anyone know any good online stores in England?
 
Um, I don't know, I've never heard of those either. Is it good/bad? Any reviews or anything anywhere?
