Is GPU the problem for system instability

Friend of mine is complaining about instabilities of his PC. So today I checked it and first ran MEMTEST which completed without errors and then ran PRIME95 for 2h also without errors and then started 3dmark 2001 and after about 10min sometimes even sooner PC halts. And I even tried lovering the ACCELERATION down 2 notches for VIDEO.

GPU is an AGP GEFORCE 6800XT.

Unfortunetely I do not have a modern spare GPU around only an ATI RAGE 128 AGP card so I sticked this one into the machine and ran 3dMARK 2001 with a bit modifications so it actually worked on a card this low and the PC didn't halt.

So then I ran a program which I believe is called Burn in Test with the GF 6800XT, this program basicly stresses your whole system, gpu, ram, HDD, DVD, even floppy which should cause maximum PSU consumption and after more than half an hour of this test the system remained stable.

1. So its my opinion that I can rule out a bad PSU, correct?
2. Is GPU definetely the problem?
3. I can not find the AGP speed option in bios nor in latest NVIDIA drivers, which freeware program I could use to set the AGP down to 4x or even 2x and then try again?

System specs:
Intel P4 2GHZ
1xHDD
2x 1GB RAM
1 x 350W PSU with 115 peak W output (is this ok?)
1 x GF 6800XT.
1 x network card
