Is GPU placement standard?

Hi. Does anyone know if the placement of the GPU on video cards is standard? Reason I ask is, I'm looking at getting a Zalman ZM80C-HP heat pipe cooler for my GF4 Ti4400, but in order to use it in my XPC I'll have to cut out a window for it to stick out. If I decide to say upgrade to a 9800 Pro AIW a few months down the road, I'm wondering if my hole will still be aligned with the Zalman unit when I switch it to the newer card. Thanks.

dunno if a heatpipe cooler will fit in an XPC... just get a vantec iceberq 4 or a thermaltake gf4 cooler.

That's why I have to do the window: http://forums.sudhian.com/messageview.cfm?catid=43&threadid=45593&FTVAR_MSGDBTABLE=
(scroll to the bottom of the page)
Thus why I'm wondering if it will be placed the same on a differen't card. I don't want to have it off center later if you know what I mean.

I have a Thermaltake GF4 cooler on it now, but that's the problem. The thing is loud, and my computer is right next to my lizards, they go nuts when it's on so I'm making it as quiet as I can.
Thanks again.

No, GPU placement is not standard, that is why the Zalman HP VGA coolers have such a large amount of adjustability and multiple ways to mount the heatsink.

Hmmm. Ok, thanks. I may just do it anyways. Shouldn't be too far off if I upgrade later.
