is gateway killing off emachines?

I went to beatbuy the other day, and noticed alot of the eM's are in gateway clothing now.

The M6810 looks to be the Gateway 7405GX now

I guess not alot of people were buying the emachines brand, so gateway is now branding them gateways.
 
Gateway did buy emachines to get into retail. Re-branding emachines as Gateway models was just a matter of time.
 
I wonder if you can use Gateway's update software to update drivers for the emachines M68xx?
 
Yeah, the 7405GX is the new line of the 68XX series.

You can look at the 7405GX as a 6811, but with a slower CPU (3200+ instead of 3400+), but faster 8xDVD/R instead of 4x, plus about $200 less I think, $1399. Oh, the top lid is all silver now.

It also has some kind of new Ultrabright screen, which has that glossy finish like other laptops.

It's also still only available mostly through BB, you can't even order it from Gateway.
