i've built systems with ecc memory longer than i can remember.
recently i read a comment somewhere where a person stated that the original premise regarding the frequency of ram errors was skewed too high and that the errors were in fact so rare that there was no need for ecc. i believe this person also commented that ram being manufactured today was even less error prone than ram that was manufactured years ago - thus adding weight to their argument that ecc was unnecessary.
while i don't plan on ditching ecc ram anytime soon i am curious if anyone has seen any data to backup the notion that ecc is unnecessary?
