Is Dual DVI worth it?

I've got two LCD screens, and I'm debating whether I should upgrade to a dual DVI card. Probably be the 6600 or 6600GT since I'm a gamer, but I'm not really sure where the bottleneck in my system is right now.

2500+ Barton @2.0ghz (181FSB)
1gig RAM
Radeon 9800np 345/315

Do you guys think I should upgrade? Normally, I wouldn't be thinking about it, but I'm also in need for a new/spare video card because I'm going to mess around with a linux box...and need to pick up a video card anyway.

So, what do you guys think? Any performance difference and $200 for a new card? or should I pick something up for $50 just for the spare rig? (If I do pick up something small, any recommendations for something under linux with good TV out?)

(note: any total system upgrades are waiting about another year for dual cores.)
 
I could tell a huge difference when I had my 2 LCDs side by side, one on DVI, the other on VGA.

I also happen to have a XFX 6600GT dual DVI I need to sell, so PM if you'd be interested.
 
Yah, the XFX cards looked like a good fit - do you think I'd notice a performance difference in games? Visually, I already know the DVI vs VGA difference...I'm looking at them. :D I'm more concerned about the gaming part.
 
From what I hear, ati has crappy support in linux, so if you do get a new card, and want to use the 9800 for the linux box, that might be a problem.
 
Asides from being the only card available at the time, hehe, I was happy to buy an XFX board based on it's dual DVI support and have been very pleased with it's performance. I too was upgrading from a 9800PRO and I have seen nothing but added performance and support for new features. :)
 
XFX also makes a 6800NU and maybe even a 6800GT with dual dvi if those are options for you. The performance difference between a 9800pro and those cards will be even more noticeable. My XFX 6600GT treats me very well though. :D

I'm interested to know what CPU you're using. I know definantly that the 6800GT would be better than my 9800np, but I'm still a little concerned that my games are going to be CPU limited too - though I supposed to could just turn up the graphics on everything.

Actually, if this were to happen, the 9800 would get pushed down to a 1.4 tbird, and a OG geforce 3 would be used on the linux box.
