i have 512 mb of geil pc3200. i just got some money and i want to get another 512 stick. is there any way to run dual channel mode with just two sticks of ram, does it have to be a dual channel kit? if i get another stick exactly like the one i have will it work? and will it even matter if i do or not if it would work?

Yes spending for DUAL CHANNEL is good idea bcuz it will double ure memory Transfer Rate, Yes if u buy PAIR of same type of sticks, they will run as DUAL CHANNEL as long as u put them in proper same color slot and BTW which M/b u have,
Depending on m/b, you'll gain a transfer rate of 6.4g/b DUAL CHANNEL vs 3.2G/b for Single Channel.

just to clarify, i have this right now http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-144-305&depa=0 if i buy another just like it, and my mobo does support dual channel, i will be able to run them in dual channel mode?

thanks.

edit: lol

i read some of the reviews at the bottom of the page there

"I'm running two of these in dual channel mode on an Abit IC7-G with a 2.8C and it is very stable and fast. I have not encountered any problems yet."

answered my question, thnx for help anyway.

As long as you have two of the same type of RAM, you'll be able to run in dual channel mode.

Most likely you can. I had 1 stick of Corsair XMS 3200 and 1 stick of Corsair XMS 3000 one is CH6 and the other is BH6 and they ran together fine in dual channel on an 865 chipset board. Although it was only a 533fsb processor so maybe that is why it was so forgiving. But they don't like to play well with each other on the A64 board their in now, one is holding the other back.

It's a very minor improvement for the Athlon XP's. Helps the A64's more, though.
