Is current GPU pricing going to have a long term negative impact on the market?

The current price points seem way too high for a casual gamer to buy into. I was expecting them to rebound by now, but it seems this is going to be the new norm.

Those that are looking for 'good enough' gaming are likely going to be pleasantly surprised at what the current gen consoles can do; despite the fact that PC tech is significantly ahead. I'd say this is true for both home and mobile gaming (MS/Sony & Nintendo).

People that are buying into consoles now, that would have been on PC, will likely stay there for a few years.

No it won't. The market slowed down to a point where you don't need to buy new GPUs all the time anyway. Case and point my over 3+ year old gpus can run games at beyond casual gamer quality. What the consoles can do can be replicated by a low end gaming pc.
