Just ran the newest version on my Soltek EQ3401M Cube. I have 2 512 Sticks. One is a Corsair XMS PC3200 and the other is a Corsair XMS PC3500 (both have the black heatsinks). My OC'ing on my 2.4C has been less than spectacular (2.89 is as high as I can get it) so I ran CPU-Z to check my FSB in real time.

Well it identifies the 3200 Stick as Corsair PC2700 and it identifies my 3500 Stick as Corsair PC3200. WTF??

Just a glitch? It's making me wonder.

corsair 3500 is 3200 with looser timings. it ID's each stick by what it says it is.

early 3200 sticks that were made before the 3200 standard was made by JEDEC were made to the highest standard at the time, probably 2700.

I have a 3200c2 v1.1 stick that shows as 2700 and also a 3500c2PT stick that shows as 3500

There is a ROM on the stick with the SPD timings and name label in it...CPUZ just reads it.

I'm aware of the SPD concept. I just expect the ROM and SPD to say 3200 if they sell it as 3200, not like old school OCZ Overclocked/rebadged stuff.

CPU-Z tells me that my 512 stick is actually 256, this is kind of wierd but other than that to best best of my knowledge it is accurate.

the highest at the time was 2700 so to keep with mobo compatability and what not (if im not mistaken) they rated the sticks for 3200 speeds but left the SPD to read 2700 which was the fastest availible at the time...way different than OCZ's stuff :p
