Is Conroe overclocking really this easy?

All I did was change the FSB to 333. That's it. Booted fine, runs fast. No voltage changes, no latency changes, nothing, just FSB. Is it really this easy?

On a side note, I really shouldn't overclock work computers on the job....:p

yes it is that easy. I have the same stuff almost, 333fsb was NO problem.

it gets a little more fun after that though.

350FSB, stock vcore, slight vRAM boost, it's idling at 49C with a Ninja and a medium-sized-drop-o'-AS5. What's up with this?

drop the voltage on the processor and it will lower the temps nicely. I've got my e6400 @ 2.72ghz idling at 46*C load is around 55*C with a voltage drop from 1.325 to 1.200 8 hrs orthos stable on the stock cooler :)

Got it to:

2.8GHz
400FSB
1.35 vcore
DDR2-800
2.0 vdimm
5-5-5-15
45C idle
55C load

Windows stable, but it failed Prime after a few minutes.

All right, I think I'll stop playing with fire on equipment I can't afford to replace. Back to stock...what a waste. :(

If that's the voltage with vdrop then that's too high(?). I've got 3.55GHz @ 1.344v and it's 'almost' Orthos-stable. Load temps with Orthos are 59-62c with Ninja.

My E6400 is at 3.2ghz, 1.248V

idle temps 35-43C, load 47-58C --- really depends on the ambient temp.

To go higher you need to change you ram multiplier to the lower setting 1:1 (or what ever that board shows) and probably increase your ram voltage to 2.1V .

These two things are common to go over 3gig+

If its stable, keep it at 333. You gain a bit of performance without really stressing anything too much.

Dont mind the others that always say go more go more go more!

Currently I run at 2.8GHZ and I love the performance boost plus my parts are not stressed that much and are 100% stable. Just getting my moneys worth :)

A waste meaning that, by next week, it'll be at stock speeds, sitting in my boss's home being used by his six-year-old-daughter to surf stupid flash-game websites and load it up with spyware...

I hate that sh*t too. If you go back about 1 1/2 years ago, I built a 4800 X2 PC using a A8N32SLi motherboard with 2 7800GTX's and it was for my managers wife  . What a complete waste of a PC. All she ever does is play solitaire, and go to websites to gather up any kind of spyware/viruses possible. Needless to say after about 4/5 months I had the PC back cause she was complaining about how slow the PC booted to windows, and the mouse kept freezing  .

My stupid Dell Optiplex 745 at work cannot overclock....Unless there is a secret way that I just do not know about...
