is atis video playback really bad?

I ha da blu ray drive and a hd4850 and the video quality looked terrible compared the the 9800gtx+ that I bought, i then sold the hd4850.
I dont like ati cards at all, i had alot of driver issues with the hd4850 i had

I improved the quality somewhat by forcing vector deinterlacing.
The problem seems to stem from upscaling. When I run the video at 100% it looks great. It is just really small I would expect 720 to take up a lot more of my screen. I think there is a scaling issue going on. Then when I click full screen the problem starts. Either nvidia does a far better job of upscaling SD or there is something I am missing. Because upscaling introduces all the artifacts I am seeing.

did you try what I suggested above?

Hmmm sounds strange. I never had a problem with video playback from my HD4870 nor any other recent ATI cards for that matter (had lots of Nvidia cards as well).

And the image quality in terms of colour, sharpness, luminosity ie. is as perfect as any of my friends Nvidia cards, at least here on my Dell monitor and my Panasonic HD projector.

I only use Zoomplayer.
