Lo chaps!

So im finally onto my A64 rig after being on SktA for years,

So im running:
4200+X2
1 Gig of Geil ram
And most importantly an Asus A8R-MVP mobo.

Now i know i cant run Crossfire at full X16 speeds but i will get atlest X8 in both ports once it is enabled, I know this wont be the fastest way but i wont be using the fastest cards either.

My question is, is anyone running the cableless Crossfire using the X1800GTO cards?

Im really interested in doing this as its cheap for the cards and i allready have a mobo and also i think the biggest bonus is NO crossfire DONGLE! :D

I need to know the pro's and con's of running it like this, i'd doubt id use any other cards for crossfire due to cost.

LMK guys.

I don't think you could even run dongle-less Crossfire on that chipset. You probably wouldn't even get display (If I'm wrong, please correct me.)

Im pretty sure Crossfire X1800GTO doesnt need a dongle at all. Only the X1800XT's and the X1900XT's and XTX's need the dongle.

Im 100% sure u dont need a dongle using crossfire with the x1300/1600 and 1800GTO's

it all depends on if anyones using it in the way im describing also i think im sure that the Crossfire 1600 chipset from Ati will run it. but as i said i need conformation as if anyones running it.

what would be the point of doing that? I would think it would hamper performance.. but I am CF n00b.. I know SLI perf would suffer sans bridge..
