Is a KVM Switch what I am looking for?

I'll explain my situation, I have two monitors (1 LCD and 1 CRT) that I want to run one computer system on (not simultaneously). I simply want to be able to switch from LCD to CRT and vice versa. I am not looking for a multiple monitor set up (running the system on both monitors at the same time). My question is, will a KVM switch work for my situation? Thanks in advance :)

Don't think so. A KVM switch is basically 2-4 inputs to 1 ouput, input being the computers, output being the monitor. So you push the button to switch between computer a, computer b, computer c being displayed/controlled by the keyboard/mouse. And that is the exact opposite of what you are looking for. So you want to be able to switch between these 2 monitors at the push of a button, but not use them at the same time? Can't really think of a solution for this, though I'm sure someone can. The only thing I can think of, is that even though you say you don't want to use a dual monitor setup, I am fairly sure you can control what appears on what monitor, so you could still do what you wish on each monitor at any given time, and just turn one off...

That first one is too pricey, I'd rather switch the monitor cable manually everytime rather than forkin over $160. The second one seems like what I need, a little bit more than what I wanted to pay, but I would probably get it if it didn't note:

• Please note: This switch is not compatible with 17 inch monitors or larger

lol, :) any other suggestions?
