I have the follwoing setup..Want to add one additional HD to it. I currently have a 500W Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500. Would I be fine adding the additional HD, or would I be pusshing my luck?

- E6750
- 2 SATA hd drives
- 2 EIDE dvd drives
- 4 case fans
- 7900GT

yep definitely ok. my system was running of an Enermax Liberty 500W for about 2 years (i upgraded to the Corsair TX750 b/c of a case upgrade)

I'm kind of suprised no one's come in and pulled the "get rid of that piece of shit and buy a [insert lower end Corsair unit] stat" line yet. Wait a minute - I kinda just did :p.... IOW - the Antec SP2.0's aren't exactly seen as the pinnacle of Antec's product lines that's for sure. On the serious side though, as long as you keep your case (and by extension the PSU) sufficiently ventilated, it'll be fine.. The caps used in that particular PSU line aren't exactly known for handling loads of heat.

Exactly, I've got about twenty of those exact same PSUs under the bench right now (and way more than that if you count other Antec models). All of them are waiting to be recapped as needed... once recapped they make great spares! :)

Luckily people seem to be having a lot better luck with the newer Antecs, especially the Earthwatts, Trio, and Basiq units.
