is 2.9-3.2Vdimm safe?

my new AI7 will have Vdim up to 3.2 and i was wondering if i risk frying my over a year old 3200XMSc2 ? will the added Vdimm be safe and allow a modest OC? or should i go no higher than 2.8-2.9?
 
Most hardcore review sites I have read recommend once you go to 3.0v and above to start using active cooling methods....meaning have a nice fan blowing onto the ram sticks exclusively....Even with best copper heatspreaders the 3.0+v is going to generate heat and often time the ram slots are not in the most ideal place already for smooth air flow....
 
i have one stick of v1.1 and i have one stick on way prob v1.2
after i get a new PSU ill probably try to push it past 3.0 if i dont think ill fry them
 
get the fortron 530w psu, its a great unit and you can adjust the pots for better ocing.
 
The Corsair's are most likely bh-5's, so you should be fine going to 3.2 volts if needed.
 
those 2 sticks might not play well together, you may have to set the timings a little lower (for the 1.2) just to get the thing to post :\
 
i made shure to get the same exact kind im just asuming the one one the way is 1.2 but this ram was the FIRST to be able to do Cas2 ddr400 and the timmings reccomended are 2-3-3-6 1T
my 2.4B bo step processor will be lucky to get to 150-155 FSB
not shure what the divider options will be but i hope i can reach 420mhz or so with the 2-3-3-6 timings hopefully an extra case fan blowing in the sticks and a Vdimm of 3.0-3.2 will do it ;) guess ill know by saturday night :)
 
really how low? if both sticks claim 2-3-3-6 wont they at least do that? im not shooting for 2-2-2-5 or anything ?

Most likely you wont even have to bump up the voltage. If you're running a 1:1 ratio, they BOTH could probably run at 2-2-2-x if you really wanted to. I didn't notice it was a P4. If you're trying to get up to 210 asynch, you can PROBABLY get up there with 2.9v or less, just do a few passes of memtest, preferrably while you're asleep, since the damn passes take so long.
