“The Internal Revenue Service is rolling out Salesforce's AI agent program, Agentforce, in multiple divisions across the agency, per an announcement shared exclusively with Axios.

Why it matters: At a time when the IRS has seen a massive reduction in its workforce due to Trump administration layoffs”

Looking for irregularities is right up "AI's" alley, though I assumed that they have been using Facebork style algorithms to find potential cheaters for a while. As long as an actual person of at least some competence looks at it prior to issuing summonses this could possibly be fine maybe.

The good news is that when the AI agents mess up, nobody will be able to tell the difference with human agents.
the generative AI agents / agentic AIs are all nondeterministic too, so that'll spice things up for sure

You know what would be better than IRS agents? Not having to do taxes in the first place! Because apparently the IRS gets all the relevant paperwork and knows if you underpaid so what it really boils down to is 1) can you do the forms yourself? (or pay someone to do them) and 2) the IRS really exists for the relatively small number of people who itemize their deductions or those who find all the legal loopholes they can to avoid paying.

It exists so if nothing else sticks they can get people on tax evasion....aka Capone
