been getting this lately. reboots while loading xp.

IRQL_not_less_or_equal

tried reformat ect... swapped out ALL hardware except cpu/mobo/PSU....... even RMA'd my HDD because i got errors when i stuck it in another computer and did a disc scan(including WD diagnostic utilities).

any idea's? bad power?

What MB/CPU? And are there any drivers you have installed every time? Could you try another MB? CPU?

edit: Is it the system in your signature?

its in the sig. Asus p4p800, p4 2.4c w/ HT.

if i swapped out my Mobo/cpu, i pretty much have the computer i'm using now....

this just started all of a sudden. last drivers installed were ATI cat 4.10's a few weeks before anything started. i'll try the PSU out of this puter and see if it'll run normal.

EDIT: nope. i guess i could try swapping out this CPU (p4 2.0ghz) into my mobo. but i'm beginning to think something happend to my mobo. the first BSOD happend a few months ago when i upgraded the intel chipset drivers, happend a few reboots after updating drivers, hasn't happend since them except maybe 3 or 4 times... could that have caused it? if so. if i dont' have an OS on there right now (also just tried installing 98) how can i change the chipset drivers? where can i find older chipset drivers, not having much luck.

also, i have reset the CMOS, many times.

The IRQ error is vague at best. It usually means a bad driver, or RAM (but could be ohh so much more). Since you have already formatted I would test the RAM next. Download memtest from www.memtest86.com and let it run for several hours, overnight if possible. 0 errors is the ONLY good result.

already did a ram test. 0 errors after about a day and a half. i guess i could run it again, i'll try changing from channel A to B. these are my 5th and 6th sticks of ram, already had 4 sticks of bad stuff.

would it still be possible for errors even if it reads 0, i wouldn't think so, maybe i found some new errors....

i can get dos to run fine, i'm searching for my red hat 8 discs. now i'm thinking that it would be the chipset drivers i installed, and each time the BSOD popped up errors were compiling w/ out being fixed to the point where it is now.

had this system since late july, early august, checking to see if i can RMA the mobo/CPU/PSU since everything else has been replaced at least once.

Man, I've seen that error so many times I don't want to think about it. In my case it was a hardware conflict. The mobo did not like the RAID/vid combo.

I've also seen it on my workstation in the past - had the RAM timing too aggressive

This list of possible problems includes 85% of your hardware and every software driver, so... Lots of TSing in your future. You can pretty much guarantee it's a hardware issue, though. I seriously doubt you reinstalled the exact same software error, but it's possible if you used all the same drivers.

i managed to get windows 98 running without a hitch. going to try to roll back to older chipset drivers and bios.

edit: if anyone else has seen this error, it could be IRQ, i;ve been doing research(way toomuch) and it seems like an IRQ thing. i'm gonna try to change some bios settings and try to install X(tra)P(roblems) again.

got it running stable w/ 98 on there, playing around w/ bios versions but still no luck installing/running XP....

now i get BSOD w/ ntsf.sys, and also BSOD dealing w/ pagefault in non default area.

edit: running mem test overnight just for kicks.

I used to get that error sometimes and found out it was a bad video driver. uninstalled and then installed newer ones and never saw it again....gl

this is happening from a fresh install on a brand new HDD. i've swapped out my 9800 pro for: 9700 pro, AIW 9700 pro, gefroce 4 ti, geforce 4 mx, geforce 2, a PCI permedia 2.

You can play around with the OS all day, you have a hardware error. The standard TS method at this point would be to swap out hardware one by one. I'm leaning towards a bad mobo.

for whatever reason its working fine now.... have no idea why. back to its original config... i think i may RMA my mobo anyways.

edit: forget that. now i just get the pagefile BSOD.

i'm giving up. better be a quick RMA for the mobo. and that better fix this thing.
