Ir Blaster issues

Just a quick question, bought a hauppage pvr-150, and can't get the IR blaster up. I've tried every code in the code list a couple times with the ir transmitter in different positions. I have a philips dcx 6173r cable box, and can't find documentation for the thing anywhere. I was wondering if I'm just SOL, or if there might be a workaround out there that I'm not aware of. I'm not really into buying a seperate blaster, because i'll be replacing my stb when my provider rolls out hdtv service (they promised August or September, but I'm expecting sometime around 2012).
