IQ difference?

Well it shouldn't be unbreably loud...If you're playing a game, you should have some sound (Or Headphones) turned up a bit no?
Sure but the fan seems to be very loud under load.
I know now what to do:
Get a GTX...try...try some more...try even harder ( :D )...and if I can't stand it I'll get a XT.
I have 14 days to return it...think that's more than enough.
[EDIT]: No that's not right...in fact the shop gives me 28 days...

As I will with GREAT IQ. ;)

Hehe yeah, I don't know how people can just say 'well as long as the games good, screw IQ', with that kind of logic we should all be playing tetris or something...

Very good point!

I just saw the WoW video and its the first good example of shimmering in a game that I have seen, I would not be able to play WoW if I had to deal with that!

Thankfully my 9800 pro is still going strong, but I think I will grab a x1800xl when the prices come down. That and a new PSU & Mobo :(

well i still can't see it from that video :p but probably just cause i've never had a chance to play any of these good looking games yet. maybe i will notice it once i start playing.

but reading through these threads i found another term i'm unfamiliar with.....shader alias? :x what's that like. sounds like it's really serious if you have to alt f4 to fix it

OHHHHHHHHHH i just watched the video again on my home comp with lcd i think i see it now, do you mean the patch of grass like in the middle of the screen? oh noe :( i've been plagued by super-sensitive eyes now hah i'll probably be seeing it everywhere too hopefully it won't bug me too much :D

for all those that can't see it, DON'T TRY :O

I myself have never had this shimmering problem..even WHEN i'm looking for it. and not plaing the game...i would LOVE to see this shimmering effect on my machine.

Oh well i guess i'm to busy playing the game to really care about it...As for moire....thats been around since day one of 3d cards.

Moire is just moire...get over it..if it bothers you that MUCH...then don't play the game...it doesn't matter if you like the game or not....you can't stand the so called shimmering and moire effects....so quit playing the game and quit bitching about it...it's annoying...we the [H]ardcore gamers don't really care about these so called issues...if the game looks great it looks great.....But to nit pick about these shimmering moire effects....well imo is just plan stupid...if it bothers you to play the game...then don't play it...cause i'm tired of hearing this whinning and bitching about shimmering...both companies have it...so live with it, if you call yourself a [H]ard gamer...

IMO, not caring about something like Moire and Shimmering makes me wonder how you can care about any iq, and as a result makes me wonder why you dont game at 640*480 with everything turned off. I mean, im too busy playing games to notice such things.

Wouldn't a [H]ard gamer strive for the best and not just settle for as it is

A [H]ard gamer is someone who likes to have IQ...and the best they can have...But shimmering and or moire effects are minor flaws in 3d gaming of today.

If you can't get over small stupid shit like moire or shimmering. Then your really not playing the game...You guys can all nit pick the shimmering shit. I'm going to be playing FEAR and Quake4....yes PLAYING...not bitching...

Ya i know....i'm bitching about the bitchers bitching about shimmering and moire...

ironic isn't it?

But either way...i play my games at 1280x1024 with 85HZ at HQ with 8x AF and some AA...

AA doesn't really bother me...I can live with jaggies...I guess some people just gotta have the best of the best to play with the rest...oh well...As i see it.. Play the game. If you can't stand moire or shimmering (cause your rig has these effects)..then don't play the game.
It's smiple as that....quit playing the game. And you will quit having shimmering problems.

And i'm sorry i don't get these effects you guys do...i just never have had them at all..i have(in current working gaming machines)1x5900XT 3x6800GT's, 1x6600GT, 1x7800GT, and i don't get any shimmer effects....Now Moire is there...yes it is...but from day one that has never effected my gaming skills....shit i have seen moire since the Riva 128 days...It's nothing new....

Oh well i'm done ranting again...

I've noticed a massive harsh transitition in my x800 pro in fear on certain walls. I'm not sure if it's just the game (looks like it) but it's really ugly. Basic trillinear filtering was the only way I could really get rid of it. Could be certain walls at certain angles or something, but either way it looks ugly as hell to me at a certain distance and stays liket hat when I walk around. Rather distracting. It looks like the distance that AF starts to kick in though. Uh oh :(

A "[H]ard Gamer" would expect the best of both worlds, I would think. If not, why not crank all cards to "High Performanc" and say the hell with IQ?

FYI - simmering can be fixed, just at a performance hit.
