looking for a screen with these specs any recommendations?

HP 2475w. An oldie but a goodie. Will set you back $600 new, but can be found usually less than $500 refurbished. I have had it for the last three years and it is awesome. Here is a review on it.

However, the HP LP2475w is 1920x1200; the OP is asking for 1920x1080.

The Dell U2311h, being a 23" 1920x1080 IPS almost fits the bill, except that it's got DVI-D, Displayport and VGA - no HDMI.

+1. Not 1920x1080 native but an awesome display all around.

NEC EA231WMI Can be found for around $300-350 and is the best choice for the $$ BAR NONE.

I wouldn't go that far...

The NEC EA231WMI, DELL U2311H, Viewsonic VP2365wb all use the same LG eIPS panel.

The NEC and Dell each have their advantages, the viewsonic is lacking.

The Dell features RTC to increase response times, the NEC and Viewsonic don't.

For input lag the NEC is the fastest at 8.8ms, Dell second at 10.6ms, and Viewsonic is oddly slow at 16.3ms.

The NEC has speakers built in, the Dell does not. The Dell is a Dell so you can often find it for much less then the retail price which was $299.99 and returns are pretty easy at Dell (vs Newegg/Tigerdirect which might not even let you return it). There was a 20% coupon which made it a popular item.

I run DVI to HDMI through my Onkyo receiver (works fine with 480p, 1080p and 720p, but no other resolutions).

Why not go for the Samsung F2380M (I think the M-version has HDMI)?

IPS panels aren't as good as they once were. Broad your horizons ;)

Actually that's not true. They're better than they were a few years ago. The other panel technologies have also improved, though.

damn sry guys it can only be HDMI with my receiver :\

any more recommendations ?
HDMI and DVI are completely identical minus audio (and DVI supporting analogue), so unless you want audio, there is no difference whatsoever. You can use them interchangeably.

This. Just use an HDMI to DVI cable to connect your receiver to the montior.
