Is the NEC MultiSync EA231WMi-BK a good choice for a tri-monitor setup?

Figure 50% gaming, 30% work (programming), 20% internet browsing, video watching

Also in order to have decent performance (mostly for gaming), am I looking at a 5970 as my card of choice?

I'm building a new system, I don't want to get a 5870 if I will be disappointed trying to drive 1920 x 1080 x 3.

not sure about the monitor, but for the video card it really depends what games you're going to be playing. If you gonna be playing the most demanding games, yes, you might want to wait.

Haven't seen the NEC monitor. Over all, I'm an NEC fan, I have a 2690 and I love it. However I don't know how their Multisync 90 series compares to their Multisync EA series.

As for IPS monitors in the reasonable range, we just got some Dell U2410s at work and they are really nice. Amazing panel for the price.

I have been debating this myself. For the price the EA231WMI-BK looks like a good deal and it has displayport!

Best deal i can see (via froogle) is http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002LARVYK... got better?

I would not go for less then the 5870 for eyefinity. Even with that we will still have to hope for crossfire support in the future.

edit: guess it does tilt ;)
