Scenario - Server 2003 print server with multiple print queues for network printers. Server connects to printers via IP. Server has Internet Protocol printing support installed. Standalone and domain clients can see http://servername/printers and can install a printer.
Problem - Standalone clients will not pull down printer specific settings from the server. I can set tray assignments on the server but the standalone workstations won't pull down the settings initially or update after changes are made on the server.
It appears that domain authenticated clients install an RPC printer while standalone clients install an IPP printer even though both use the same installation method.
Is there any way to get standalone machines to pull down customized settings such as tray assignment from the server?
