A new study shows that the iPod can make pacemakers malfunction. Heh, makes you look at the pause / stop button a little differently now doesn’t it?

In some cases, the iPods caused interference when held 18 inches from the chest. Interfering with the telemetry equipment caused the device to misread the heart's pacing and in one case caused the pacemaker to stop functioning altogether.

There is a really long list of electronic devices that can interfere with pacemakers, but you'll get the most press with the word "iPod" in the title.

"Waffleirons Make Pacemakers Malfunction" would not be quite as sexy... :D

I hope Apple doesn't try to:

* spin this in a positive way, like: "Our iPods are so awesome, they'll stop your heart!" or anything like that.

* or try to get "Hi, I'm a Mac" from the commercials to play an iPod. ;)

this would be a lot funnier if there wasn't the possibility that it might kill someone

Everyone knows this is just a marketing push for the soon-to-be released "iHeart" Apple Pacemaker/MP3 player. It's all touch controlled: Circular rotation around the left nipple increases/decreases volume, pushing the nipple for pause/play and the right nipple is purely for track navigation.

ROFLMAO

I can just see the new Mac/PC ads on TV.

*Mac guy hands the PC guy an ipod, ipod is cliped on his belt*

*Mac guy says, "listen to this player, it will make your heart stop"*

*PC guy drops dead*

lol

That really gives a whole new meaning to "Tune in Tokyo!" :D

"Warning: Using an iPod may cause serious injury or DEATH"

Does that mean the iPod isn't meshing well with iLife?

Apple is catering to your every need and stage of existence, iLife is there to assist in your personal creative aspirations until the point that you are no longer young, pretty or cool. Once you reach this stage although you can no longer help Apple in a marketing capacity (cuz you wrinkly) you will still be provided the privilege of purchasing Apple's wonderful and meaningful hardware and applications.

Actually, the iDeath is a compliment to the current iPod lineup coming in two form factors. The iDeath Urn Edition 1.0 is a clear acrylic led lighted capsule with touch sensitive controls along the base. The iDeath Superdrive Edition, is a...

Apple:

"While we are saddened that this has happened, we are more upset that our competitor isn't more hardy to issues like these, gosh!"

They have hard drives in them... most of them, when I take the magnets out of old hard drives my mother won't come within a few feet of me, people just need to be careful and mindful of things like this.
