Hi,
I have a second generation ipod touch (model #: A1288) and the touch screen doesn't respond to touch. The time and date still change so its not frozen, what could be the problem? Thanks

I could do that, but the nearest one is half an hour away and was hoping to get an idea before I do that.

Have you rebooted the device? Hold down the sleep/wake button at the top and the home button at the bottom front. The screen will go blank. Keep holding until the Apple logo displays.

Definitely take it to a Genius Bar then. That's really your best recourse.

If they don't do anything you'll probably need another digitizer.
