Long story short - my IPOD was accidentally thrown against a wall(smart, i know) and no longer works. It will power on, and sometimes play songs, but it has a loud grinding sound, so I'm guessing its the HD. It's definately out of warranty. Is there any place I can send it to have it diagnosed and/or repaired?

I checked the apple support page and think the "Service may not be available if your iPod has been damaged due to accident or abuse." would apply to me, so I've ruled out sending it to them.. Any suggestions are appreciated

well I don't know of any place that fixes then other than Apple...what you could try doing is get a replacement drive for it and try to replace it yourself...there are tutorials on the web on how to open these and replace parts

I've considered that. My only problem is that if I get a HD, open it, put it in, try it, and it still doesn't work, how likely am I to get a refund? i don't want to be out hundreds of dollars
