How long will my ipod nano take to charge, this is the first time I have charged it and it is charging through a usb port in my laptop it has been charing for over 4 hours now and still says:do not disconnect on the screen how long should it take?

Thank you.

I may be wrong, but I remember leaving both my video ipod and my nano on charge for quite a while the first time. Doesn't the manual say 12 hours or something like that for the first charge? Check up on that in the manual as I may be wrong.

Does the battery icon still show that the iPod is charging? My Nano takes an hour or two to charge. They'll always say "Do not disconnect" when they're mounted.

Does your laptop have USB 2.0? If you're using USB 1.1 it'll never fully charge and you'll damage the battery.

I just charged mine using my macbook and it's took from 11.30-23:20 to finish.

it will always say do not disconnect (^^^ as the previous poster said). if you have the new nano, it will have a quick charge which charges it to 80% in 1.5 hours. the full charge for 2nd gen nano is 3 hours. the first gen nano shouldn't be anymore different.

I unno about you, but USB 1.1 works for my nano perfectly.

USB 1.1 cannot provide as much current as USB 2.0 so essentially your iPod is only getting a trickle charge. It probably takes more than 2 hours to fully charge, correct?

Either you are wrong or my Ipod 2nd gen is broken as it took basically 12hours to charge as stated above. I know this because i picked it up and it was charging then 2mins later it had a big "Charged" message.
