Ipod mini 4th generation not booting

I had a job interview yesterday and I took my ipod for the 4 hour drive with me. Needless to say, after 8 hours of driving, my ipods battery died. This morning I plugged it into my computer to let it charge all day. I plug it in, and after about 30 seconds, I hear the windows noise of when a usb item is removed. I looked at my ipod and it was blank. I try turning it on, nothing happens. So i figure the battery is still dead. I shut down my pc and try to plug it in again. The computer will not even recognize that anything is being plugged into the usb. I get a little worried. I pull out my plug for it and plug it into the wall... Nothing happened then either.

Nothing is happening at all... My roomate has the same ipod as me and I plugged my ipod into his cpu and his wall jack and nothing happended there.

Has anyone ever encountered anyting like this. Is there some sort of reset feature to fix it maybe.
