iPod Earbuds...

Hello All:

I am looking to replace the earbuds that came with my iPod. They just stopped working the other day... (Might have something to do with my son pulling the earbuds from the cord...) :) Any suggestions? I am no audiophile, but I can hear the difference between good headphones and awful ones. I really don't have any idea what these things cost either, but I cannot imaging that they'd be too expensive.

BTW, if it makes a difference, I listen to mostly alternative stuff (Linkin Park, 311, Incubus, Yellowcard, and the like.)

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Sure E2C. They've been called "bassy" which is great for rock.

<edit> never heard them myself, but the peeps on HeadFi seem to like them. It really comes down to what your ears like. The best advice is to find a store who has a few different types of cans and try them for yourself... let your ears be the judge.

The MX500s are a good bet. Without getting into crazy-expensive models, the Sony EX51s (cheaper) or EX71s (better) are also good picks, as are the new Apple In-Ear buds.

Go to the earphones/buds forum at www.ipodlounge.com to read up on them a bit.

I'll vote for the EX71's also, they are pretty nice earbuds (got a pair for my ipod as well)

I tried the MX500's, and they sound nice too, but either my ear canal is too big or the buds themselves are too big, cuz they wouldn't stay in my ear and kept irritating my ears. But they do sound much better than the standard ear buds.

I haven't heard Apple's new in-ear buds yet.

Not to hijack the thread, but do you have a different opinion about the Sure E2C's? Or was it something else I said?

see sig

and I don't have anything against the E2's because I have not used them

The Sony EX71's are selling for $35 right now on Amazon (normally $50). I picked up a pair a few weeks ago, and I love them - a lot of iPOD owners seem to love them, even better than their Apple earbuds as well.

The only downside is that they mostly come in black (the white ones to match the iPOD are pretty hard to find).

Thanks for all of the replies.

It looks like I'm going to go ahead and get the Sony EX71's. And at $35, they are in my price range.

I've been to www.ipodlounge.com before, but I was unaware that they had that particular forum.

Thanks again for all of the help. :D
