Hey guys-

I assume none of us here would know how the battery is going to hold up on these new iPod videos? I would hate to spend $400 on an iPod video 60GB if the battery is going to die for good after just 1-2 years.

its not a big deal. just buy a replacement battery for $30 after 2 years or get a new ipod from apple within 1 year (warranty)

$30? Weren't the old iPod batteries around the $250 outrageous price-range?

No, they were 100 bucks if you wanted apple to do it for you. 50 to buy a "kit" to do it yourself (third party).

The batteries themselves are standard-sized, and can be purchased from specialty-hobby stores on the net. Although I think the dimensions of the 5g battery are different? if so, might be "special".

if you're out of warranty, it's $59, in warranty and within 6 months of purchase, it's free, in warranty after 6 months, it's $29 to send it in. This goes for all ipods, from 1st gen to 5th.

As for how long the battery is going to last; it's lithium ion so you should should see something like a 300-500 charge life cycle given IDEAL conditions, so figure how often you charge it and do the math.
