So a couple of months ago my sister in law bought an almost new condition iphone. The thing is she says she bought it off of Craigslist for 50 dollars. Well, I have been looking for one for a while and was very surprised at what she had bought it for. I was also kind of jealous because 1. We have a history of not getting along and 2.I really wanted one and could not find one under 200 dollars. So...

A week ago she spilled some sort of energy drink, soaking her iphone and rendering it useless. This made me kinda happy in a selfish, you did not deserve it, kind of way. Well, today I see her post this..

" I went to the Apple store today and told them my tale of woe, while being sure to bat my eyelashes and flirt with the "genius"....he went and talked his manager into giving me a new iphone for free!! wheeeehoooooo!! <does happy dance>"

Now, wth?? So I am to believe she walked into the Apple store, with a 50 dollar Craigslist broken Iphone and batted her eyelashes and they just gave her a brand new one? Does this happen? Something strange is going on here.

i went into an apple store with an ipod touch that was broken, and they just replaced it...because the home button was loose! i had it for quite a few years, and i want even the original owner, seems they replace things when they feel like it ? - but they did check the warrenty status..

I'm calling BS. Unless the iPhone purchased off of CL was stolen and unreported with an intact FULL warrenty (beyond AppleCare), I've never seen an apple store be so generous. Usually those worthless employees (sorry if someone takes offense to this but IMO its true) just haggle customers untill they are so fed up and leave. I'd hardly imagine "batting" her eyelashes would allow them to completely replace the phone especially under liquid damage - that instantly voids the warrenty and is stated in the origional Apple/AT&T iPhone owners contract.

To get that, she'd have to do a LOT more than bat her lashes... Probably cup the balls and hum a nice tune. That being said? No, it's not happening. Someone would be losing their job REAL quick if it did.

Not to sound rude here or anything......but couldn't this debate be solved with a picture of said sister?

If she was really hot, I'd give her a free iphone too.....with my contact info already added! (in case she had problems)

i agree, before this discussion is continued further, we really need a pic to make an accurate estimation of the situation at hand...

iphones suck, i have one... its bs how you have to pay for apps that the droid-owners do not. FUCK APPLE

*golfclap* So buy an android phone, what's stopping you? Nobody is holding an Apple branded gun to your head and forcing you to buy apps. And how do your comments have ANYTHING to do with the thread?

I second this. Apple hardware is usually tied to the serial number not necessarily to the owner. Apple will usually replace without any difficulties UNLESS there is water damage. Indicated by the "water submersion stickers" on the inside of the phone. If there is water damage they will usually replace the phone, but not with a $200 replacement fee. Which at Apple's costs is the purchase of a new iphone plus markup.

doubt anyone would get fired for replacement. maybe she bought it new and it had insurance. i Know i would prob say i got it for 50 bux and then claim it was free replacement so people i knew wouldnt get mad at me for spending 200 bux on gay iphone. (i got mine for 50 bux but its a gen1 4gb with broken camera ) ima fix camera eventually ugh
