Had my Iphone a couple of days and it has been going fine.

Was doing something on it today at lunchtime and it lost service and then error came up saying to connect to Itunes Restore needed.

Phone has not been jailbroken and is currently in its original state.

Has anybody else had this happen and if so is there a solution as I cant connect to iTunes as I am in work.

Thanks in advance...;)

You could try restarting it a couple times, but most likely you're going to have to connect it to iTunes and restore it.

Which version of the iPhone software were you running?

Got it on Sunday and installed 2.2 straight away.

As I said its ran well from then and just stopped working today at about lunchtime.

Tried doing a hard reset and still showing same message on-screen about a restore being needed.

I've had that happen to me a couple times. It really sucks andpisses me off. I even took it to the Apple store but they refused to give me a new one because after it happened, they restored it and said it looked fine to them. No shit sherlock its fine for a little while then it just does it again. They use "genius" very generously I guess. I've just had to restore it, hasn't done it in a few months though now.

If it happens more than once, explain the issue and the folks at the Apple store will probably replace it. The software shouldn't need to be restored very often if at all. When I had similar issues with my iPod touch, they simply replaced it. As it turns out, the problems were due to the buggy 2.0 software when it was released and they have mostly been fixed in 2.1 and 2.2.

Took it home and tried to restore it and it will not work.

Error comes up saying something about the SIM pin, SIM was never locked.

Tried SIM in another phone and it works fine, phone is going back tomorrow and if no new phone is given contract will be cancelled.:D
