I dunno why it took these guys so long to figure it out. Hollywood has been doing RC cars for years.
 
This has bad idea written all over it. Hopefully there will be plenty of failsafes in place before this ever becomes a product. One failsafe that should be in place is top speed, probably 3 mph max.

About the one and only thing I can see a use for this is for parking. For example: If you have trouble parallel parking and can't judge the distance too well for the rear end of a larger vehicle, you could stand on the curb and help guide it in.
 
and when the iPhone's battery dies...or explodes?:eek:

anyone else notice it didn't have a way to shift from drive to reverse & vice versa (at least I couldn't see a way)? talk about an oversight.
 
If you get a call, does that pop up in the foreground while the car careens out of control?
 
Anyone notice a problem that seems inherited from video games? When a button is the gas pedal, how do you control how much gas you're giving. Also, how much brake are you giving? Unless pressing the touch screen harder increases the amount of gas or braking?

You'd be better off using a Dreamcast controller, and using the analog triggers to control gas and fuel. Just hook up a wifi connection.
 
it would probably be pretty easy to actually do this with a Volkswagen, with their drive by wire steering, throttle and brake systems, I am sure an easy computer actuator could be connected to drive the car....
 
idea cool, but a rehash. execution using a mini van,, less than cool. unless my sister in law was strapped in the back seat during the demo with wide eyes. :)
