We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

I was just wondering, i jsut freshly installed windows XP pro on a laptop and when i type "ipconfig" it does not show an ip address for it....any reason why???

its not picking up an address via dhcp or static
or you dont have any lan adapters/network adapters installed

I take it your on a different comptuer than the one you just loaded up?
anyhow
right click on my comptuer and go to manage
go to device manager
and check to see if you have any network adapters installed. or if they have a spat or x by them.
or does this machine have wireless or somethign else?
type in ipconfig/all and it will list the status for all your lan / wireless adapters

If you're juzt getting 0.0.0.0 or whatever and you know you should be working on dhcp. Try

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

In befor the Majot or Lethal tell you this ain't the right place. This is for help and feedback for the forum. This would best go in Networking subforum

i figured it out guys, thank you much , for future reference when u do a fresh intall of xp, all the drivers are not installed, so i just installed the drivers for the network adapter and voila!

thank you on helping me brainstorm ;)

Next time, please try to post to the appropriate forum. This one is for help/feedback with [H] forum issues, not your problems with a Windows install.
