Anyone remember what phones looked like before the iphone came out? What about mp3 players? itunes store? Tablets? What about these so called "ultrabooks" that looks exactly like a Macbook airs? Surely these guys are not trying to imitate Apple.
Was there anything on it that *wasn't* taken from existing gadgets? Was it so long ago that you've forgotten the stream of lawsuits when Apple launched their phone and the other companies were not happy that they found their tech in it? They even sued Apple because the iPhone looked similar to some of the other touchscreen phones that were launched at the time.
And at the time the iPod came out, i was playing MP3's off my Nokia 5510. So yes, there were MP3 players before Apple. After that, when the iPod nano arrived, my officemates already had thumbdrive style MP3 players. The only advantage Apple had was the storage space, but for us, we just swapped MP3 on our office and home PCs (or anyone's PC; itunes not needed). And the air was marketed as if there had never been small profile laptops before (CULV, ultraportables, netbooks), the template for an ultrabook was already there, what they copied was apples marketing. Normally it would have just been treated as the next generation laptop and put on store shelves without the extra flair.
