I am setting up a rig for a family member today after work. Anybody have any tips for me?
I want to try and get the fsb to 1066 or 1333...

I have heard of people having problems w ip35 and 8400 pro...why is that? what kind of problems?

Someone told me I can't do it because the memory is double pumped and the proc is quad pumped...
I'm not so sure I know what this means...
whats my best bet?

Not sure about the double pump memory thing never heard of it, but the isssue with ip35 abit boards are with incorrect temperature readings. Check this long thread at the abit forum. http://forum.uabit.com/showthread.php?t=133649. From what Ive seen half the people that flashed to the latest 16 bios are reporting it fixed other half still buggy.

maybe by double pump they meant Double Data Rate? if so, then he would essentially be saying that DDR memory doesn't work with quad pumped CPUs, which has been working for quite some time now... don't know what your friend was trying to feed you, but i wouldn't eat it

also the e8400 is already 1333fsb if i'm not mistaken

Here is what someone said in another post :

correct me if I'm wrong here

I doubt you'll get that rig to 550FSB. Or even 500FSB for that matter. Remember that the CPU is quad-pumped while DDR2 is double-pumped, so 1333 on the CPU is only 667 on the memory.

that dude is just saying that you don't need to OC the ram up to 1100 because he doesn't think that your CPUs front side bus will go that high. you can OC ram as much as you want, but a lot of people like to keep their FSB to RAM speed at 1:1. which means if your ram gets to 1100, that takes into account the Double Data Rate, so one way it is at 550mhz. for the CPU, if it was operating at 550mhz, since the data on that is "quad-pumped" you would take 550 x 4 = 2200 FSB.
